When we told our colleagues that we were leaving our respective billion dollar construction companies, many thought we were crazy. Why would you leave your stable, comfortable leadership roles at large firms to risk everything, start over and build something from scratch?
Simply put: we wanted to create a firm, where we had the flexibility to focus on the customers and projects that we personally wanted to work with. As a boutique firm, we selectively target customers that share our values. We specialize in high-end commercial interior offices only and as a smaller, selective team we are able to provide senior level focus and attention on each of our projects instead of these clients getting overshadowed by hundreds of other projects.
And with this strict focus on your project, our specialized team is able to deliver consistently and with greater efficiency. All while giving our valued customers the attention and service that they deserve, without the worry of being overshadowed by larger projects.
The designers, brokers and PM partners that we gravitate towards are made up of some of the best and brightest in the industry. Many of which, we have been working with for over a decade. We focus on collaboration rather than divide and conquer, and find that projects go much faster and more smoothly when everyone is working towards a common goal.

David & Jeremiah
As Principal of D | WATTS Construction, David is responsible for executive oversight over business operations of the company, overseeing all corporate and financial operations and ensuring client satisfaction.
David started his career when he was still in high school, first in construction as a laborer, then as a carpenter while in college. In 2005, moved to the DC area to work for HITT Contracting as an Assistant Project Manager, and was quickly promoted to Project Manager, eventually taking on the role of Director of Business Development, focusing on expanding the law firm practice nationally. In 2012, David moved to Washington Woodworking to oversee the transition of ownership, managing the selection and implementation of a new accounting system, the rebranding of the company, and overseeing daily operations.
David’s most recent role was Director of Interiors for Gilbane Building Company, where he provided both project and executive oversight and the management of day-to-day operations. David grew the team into a premier interior contractor with annual revenues over $100m.
David’s resume includes some of the largest law firms and corporations in the area, as well as the world. His breadth of experience and attention to detail has allowed him to grow a stead base of happy, repeat clients. His passion for client satisfaction and drive to always exceed expectations makes it easy for him to oversee the business development initiatives and ensure client satisfaction on all our projects.

As Principal of D | WATTS Construction, Jeremiah is responsible for providing project and executive oversight managing projects from design development through construction and occupancy.
After interning with Gilbane in 2002, Jeremiah began his career with HITT Contracting in 2003. After spending a year in the field, Jeremiah transitioned into the office as an assistant project manager where he quickly was promoted to Project Manager in 2005 and Senior Project Manager in 2010. While at HITT Jeremiah led the largest team in HITT’s interior division from 2010 – 2015, managing on average over $30 million in volume a year.
Jeremiah’s award winning portfolio includes leading national clients such as AOL, BAE, Deloitte, Google, & Hilton and has proudly established an 85% repeat and negotiated client base.
Additionally on a corporate level, two of his most important formal roles involve acting as an innovation leader and advocating for in-house continuing education – which Jeremiah sees as key to both retaining staff and improving client service. While at HITT, Jeremiah developed and served as an instructor for their “Time Management” class and also created a client focused presentation on Construction Budgeting and Scheduling best practices that he shares regularly. In addition to leading the firms project management department, Jeremiah also heads up the D | Watts institute, where we provide continuing in house education for our employees and clients (at no charge).
